Veterans Day at Wingate High School

Wingate Elementary School in Ft. Wingate, New Mexico, proudly honored Veterans with its annual celebration, bringing together students, staff, and community members in a heartfelt tribute. The event began with a vibrant parade, as students marched across campus carrying handmade banners and photos of Veterans and active-duty family members. This year’s Grand Marshal was Mr. Livingston, a U.S. Navy Veteran and beloved member of the school community. The Casamero Lake Veterans were honored guests and posted the colors to open the ceremony.

The program featured student performances, including a moving recitation of the National Anthem and the Walk in Beauty prayer in Diné Bizaad (Navajo language), which students learned in their Navajo Language class. The event concluded with a meal served to Veterans and their families, prepared and hosted by the students. It was a powerful and emotional day of gratitude, culture, and community.
